Using Eudora
Using Eudora
Eudora Light
Eudora Light is a fairly sophisticated, widely distributed
freeware package for Windows and Mac that:
- allows you to create multiple mailboxes to store mail by subject
[incoming mail can be transferred easily from the In box into mailboxes
]
- sorts by date, sender, subject, status, size, priority
- allows you to read and write mail offline
- allows you to set up nicknames that
can be used to make addressing mail much easier. For instance, instead of trying
to remember the full e-mail address you might simply type in Adam and the software will send it to agoodman@pd.stlnet.com
- allows you to send the same message to multiple addresses
under the same nickname
- allows you to receive and send files as attachments to text
messages
- allows you to easily archive important e-mail messages
- allows you to keep a copy of all outgoing mail
- allows you to locate messages by content
- allows you to create mailbox folders to help organize large numbers of mailboxes and
messages.
- allows you to include frequently used nicknames in a menu
Eudora Pro
You may want to upgrade to Eudora Pro for about $50 if:
- If you sort your mail into
mailboxes organized by subject
- routinely receive mail from more than a handful
of sources
- or belong to multiple mailing lists with
heavy traffic
Eudora Pro is a much more sophisticated version
of this popular program that:
- allows you to set up filters to automatically
sort mail into the right mailbox
- can color code messages as they come into your In box so
you don't miss an important message
- has a spell checker
- automatically converts encoded messages and files
Help
- Eudora Pro offers complete hypertext online help in addition
to a printed manual and other support materials.
- Eudora Light comes with very little on-line help but
a 166-page user manual is available that can be opened in any
word processor and can be printed out by sections or as a complete
document. The tutorial on the following pages comes from that
manual. The
user manual usually accompanies the program when it is distributed
on diskette or it can be retrieved when you download the software.
If you are using Netscape or another broswer download
Eudora
Light directly from Qualcomm's web site or you can retrieve
eudor152.exe and 15manual.exe by ftp from ftp.qualcomm.com.
